FAQ’S

Q: How long will Insight Recruiting help us?

A: When you become a member of Insight you become a Family Member. We’ll be there to assist and counsel you and your parents as long as you need us!

Q; Do I need a Personal Trainer?

A: If you have the financial resources to hire a person to train and monitor your physical development, by all means, do so! Insight offers an alternative. We will design and monitor a program for you at no additional cost.

Q: How can I attain a “rating”, in my sport?

A: Ratings are subjective; they depend on who is compiling the list. More important than your rating is the fact that you are listed. Only one person can be rated #1. No matter who that person is or what position he or she plays coaches understand their success will depend on the other people they recruit to support them and make the individual and more importantly the team successful. Once you are listed you will receive the needed exposure to be assessed by college coaches for their team-wide needs.

Q: If I receive a scholarship, is it for all 4 years?

A: Depending on the sport, Division and school, scholarships can be partial or “full-rides.” Even a “full-ride scholarship is administered on a one-year renewable basis.

College coaches will offer and explain the extent of that offer to you and your parents. It is important that you ask what are the conditions, academically and athletically for your scholarship to be renewed.

Q: What is a “Redshirt”?

A: A student who does not play in ANY college game or scrimmage in a given academic year. If a student plays in even one second of one game as a collegiate athlete he or she can’t be a redshirt. A student-athlete that is redshirted will most likely result in the student-athlete receiving a fifth year of financial aid. Coaches employ this at times when a student may need physical maturation or his or her position is stacked with talent.

Q: What is a “Grayshirt”?

A: A student who is recruited out of high school, but who delays full-time enrollment in college for a term or terms.

Q: What can I do to be recruited for a scholarship?

A: The most effective way to land an athletic scholarship is to get the attention of college coaches. There are several ways to achieve this: submit video clips, career profiles and accomplishments, utilize a recruiting service, listed in magazines and web sites, attend athletic camps

Q: Should I attend athletic camps?

A: Attending a camp can be a good idea, but it needs to be the right camp at the right time. Coaches are visiting camps to evaluate talent. You must be physically and psychologically prepared because you will be tested and evaluated. Insight guides its’ members and prepares them for the appropriate camps at the appropriate time.

Q: When should I start thinking about recruitment?

A: The NCAA states recruitment can begin in the 9th grade. Therefore, at Insight we believe that preparation should commence in the 7th grade. Beginning early will increase the student’s awareness of the physical, skill and academic levels that are necessary for qualification for an athletic scholarship. Many a prospect has missed a golden opportunity, because they just didn’t know the lay of the land.

Q: Won’t my high school coach handle my recruitment?

A: This is one of the biggest myths in recruiting. Of course your high school coach would like to help, and most do, but he has limited time and resources to accomplish this task.

It is his job to coach the team, advise his or her players of the academic responsibilities on the level they are competing (high school) and serve the entire high school community as a positive roll model.  Insight is available to assist and guide student-athletes and their parents prepare and complete successful recruitment.
